About

Thunder Bay Literacy Group - Adult Learning Centre

ABOUT US

The Thunder Bay Literacy Group, formed in 1983, is a non-profit community-based organization which is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Initially, volunteer tutors were recruited to work one-to-one with adults who wanted to improve or develop basic literacy skills. After twelve years, our services expanded to include small group literacy and numeracy classes. In the fall of 2004, we opened the Adult Learning Centre and now offer full-time as well as part-time classes and have added basic computer courses to our program options.

MEMBERSHIP

There is a simple application process to become a member of the Thunder Bay Literacy Group. We expect that for convenience, the usual time for joining or renewing a membership will be the Annual General Meeting, but of course one can join or renew at any time in the year. Membership is free.

Our BOARD

Our Board Members provide the vision for the Thunder Bay Literacy Group. They meet once a month to set goals and determine how we can best serve our community.
